Birthdays and Anniversaries: Three club members have upcoming birthdays Carroll Wilkerson, John Sapp and Jim Flowers.
PROGRAM: Mike Messer introduced this week’s speaker: Coach Melvin Watkins, the assistant men’s basketball coach at MU. Coach Watkins shared with us some of the lessons he learned working with his father on the family farm in rural North Carolina. It didn’t take long, working sun up to sun down, for Coach Watkins to learn the value of a solid education. This lesson has served him well and is one of the lessons he continually tries to drive home to his players.
Coach Watkins spoke about role models as well, in that each of his players is a role model to someone. It doesn’t matter if they want to be or not they are. They can choose if they want to be a positive or negative role model. Coach Watkins went on to point out that we all are role models and that we all have the same choice, positive or negative. Adjourned with the creed: 12:56pm
