*Food drive to be held each Monday in August; please bring canned goods and non-perishable food items.
*Dottie announced that Sam Russell is recovering well and spirits are high after an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Sam's dad, Mike, is a member of our Club.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
* Sid Sullivan announced that a vote would be held, to increase the annual membership dues, on July 16th 2007 at the regular luncheon meeting. 
* Steve Winters will participate in the Griffith Centers for Children Peak Challenge. Steve will be attempting to ascend some very high mountains and in doing so he will be raising funds for the Griffith Center. Steve will gladly accept any help he can get to make this happen: Please make your check payable to Steve Winters, Peak Challenge 2007 or Griffith Center for Children and then mail them to Steve Winters 201 Bluff Creek Dr Columbia, MO 65201.
* The Board voted unanimously to ask the membership to vote yes or no to setting aside $15,000.00 per year for the next 5 years and making these funds available to facilitate a new clubhouse.

* The dates for the Optimist Club to present medals to the winning soccer teams in each competition bracket will be Sunday, July 22 and Sunday, July 29. We usually get 35 - 40 volunteers, from the club plus several of Larry Fick’s friends and family members. Larry will be getting volunteers signed up in the very near future and getting volunteer registration forms signed. Volunteers who helped in previous years recently received volunteer registration forms in the mail. Please ask them to fill out the form, showing name, address, shirt size, etc. Then bring them to the club meeting or send them to Larry, 411 Pyrenees Drive, Columbia, MO 65203, telephone 445-2743 and email: lfick41@msn.com.

Program: Meredith Donaldson gave an informative presentation about all the Rock Bridge Memorial State Park has going on this time of year. Everything from the Parade of Bats, the Nature Detectives many wonderful opportunities for children and folks of all ages to get out and enjoy the wonderful parks of Missouri.

TAIL TWISTER: Steve Henderson was MIA today so Bob Merriman filled in and did a magnificent job.

Birthdays and Anniversaries: Happy Anniversary to Greg Flippin, Happy Birthdays to Scott Stager and Steve Henderson.

Program:  Capt. Mike Martin of the Columbia Police Department spoke of the many goings on at the department.  Specifically the issues of a Civilian Review Board and the need to update the internal review policy, both of these issues involve the process involved with civilian complaints against police officers.  Capt. Martin also spoke of the rise in graffiti that is appearing around Columbia, not only is this an eye sore but indicates a rise in gang activity.
