GUESTS: Bryan Etheridge was a guest of Jack Cruise, Bo Bossaller invited John Weaver, Marilyn Starkey was a guest of Meredith Donaldson and Rick McKernan was a guest of Rick McKernan. No really.
MYSTERY PERSON: Jim Yankee was today’s mystery guest. Jim spoke briefly of the success the “40 under 40” campaign has had thus far. Great work to Jim and everyone involved in the process. Jim awarded next week’s free lunch to Lisa Eimers. Lisa was the 3rd new member to shake hands with Jim. Congrats Lisa!!
TAIL TWISTER: The tail twister was absent.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: The club will have a chili cook off Feb. 7th 6pm at the clubhouse. The theme for this chili cook off is “Let’s beat Steve”.
**The 40 under 40-membership drive is off to an impressive start. For more info contact Jim Yankee or Mike Messer.
**The Essay Contest is in need of judges to grade/evaluate submitted essays. Preferably these judges shouldn’t be Optimist members or spouses of members.
**The Oratorical Contest is to be held Feb 17th at the Sunrise Optimist Building.
**Jack Cruise is in need of help for the golf tourney to be held June 13th –14th.
**The Safety Poster Contest is rapidly approaching see Connie Howe for details.

GREETER: Mike Messer was the greeter today. Mike has been with Shelter Insurance for about 9 years. Currently he is an agent for Shelter, prior to being an agent Mike worked as a fraud investigator for Shelter. Welcome to the club Mike!
PROGRAM: Today’s program centered around the Missouri Theatre. We learned much about the Theatre’s past and what is now being done to see that it becomes an even greater asset to “The

GUESTS: Taylor Bartlett was a guest of Mike Messer, Greg Schneider brought his son Nick, Christine White was joined by Lisa Eimers and Kathryne Roberts, Bo Bossaller invited Jason Kaiser, and Jim Yankee dined with George Reinhold.
MYSTERY PERSON: Spence Turner was the mystery guest today and since today was the 22nd of Jan. Spence added 2+2 and got 4, he then awarded next weeks free lunch Garry Spotts for he was the 4th person the shake Spence’s hand.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Kids First Optimist Club of Columbia (previously known as The Southside Optimist Club) is sponsoring the First Annual ‘Have a Fling in February’ Valentine’s Day Dance @ The Stoney Creek Inn from 7pm – 11pm. February 7th the club will hold the chili cook off @ the Clubhouse @ 6pm.
Tree lot sales were around $115,000.00.
The Safety Awareness Poster Contest is fast approaching, be on the look out.
BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES: Happy Birthday to Mark Stevenson, Jake Jolley and Jack Cruise.
PROGRAM: Jim Yankee introduced today’s speaker as Bill Castles. Bill works for Pro Dental and works to promote healthy dental habits. Bill cited two examples of how periodontal (gum) disease can harm the entire body. Bill encourages folks to not only complete regular visits to the dentist but also not to delay when a problem arises with your mouth, get to the dentist ASAP!
