MYSTERY GUEST: Jim Murphy, after quizzing our newest members and today’s guests on the number of elephants ‘Moses’ took on the Arc, awarded next week’s free lunch to Red’s guest Andy.
TAIL TWISTER: Steve Henderson was here today and told some horrible joke. He tried to blame it on an ‘anonymous’ member who told him.

Jack Cruise is in need of help for the golf tourney to be held June 13th –14th.

This Thursday the 3rd is Optimist Night at the Central MO Food Bank. Please be there by 6pm.
Last Friday was Jack Cruise’s retirement party at Commerce Bank and his co-workers, knowing Jack has a fondness for chocolate sweets, brought him an entire array of chocolate items. They then held a bake sale and donated the proceeds of $450.00 to Jack’s favorite charity - the Downtown Optimist Club. Thanks Jack, you’re a real sweetie!
Birthdays and Anniversaries: Bill Ardent, Cynthia Mitchell, Red Leighton and Luke Chase all have birthdays this week!!!
PROGRAM: Christine White introduced today’s speaker: Matt Fork. Matt is an author and all around motivated guy. Matt spoke today about the importance of taking risks in our every day lives. More specifically the risk we as individuals take when we extend compassion towards each other and as we the club work to help children. He also had a few funny stories. Steve Henderson should have taken notes.

PROGRAM: The program today was presented by Dr. LaJuan Chambers Assistant Professor of Hematology, Pediatric Hematology, and Pediatric Oncology at the University of Missouri. Dr. Chambers shared with us some of the facts about childhood cancer, such as it is the number 2 killer of all children, and it knows no boundaries with regard to race, culture or class. Dr. Chambers spoke of the differences between adult and childhood cancers and the research that continues to be done searching for better more effective treatments for childhood cancer. The greeter today was Robbin Williams. Robbin was a little late today but he assures us he will redeem himself next week.
MYSTERY GUEST: Mike Hatchett was the mystery guest and he did such a poor job he was fined one quarter of a dollar by the tail twister.
Larry Fick was awarded next week’s free lunch for stepping in and helping out the mystery guest.
