INVOCATION by Rick McKernan      PLEDGE by Paul Hinshaw                  

ATTENDANCE: we had eight tables just about full, so about 56 members & guests today!

GUESTS:  Greg Schneider brought his son Nick for quality time before Nick leaves for college.

MYSTERY PERSON was Christine McGraw, who said since today was the 15th and one plus five is six, the sixth person to shake her hand was Dave Phillippe, so Dave gets a free lunch next week!

TAIL TWISTER, our own Steve Henderson brought out our beautiful, flowery new Fine Piggy Bank (fine as in used for fines J) and was the first one to drop in coins.  He had on a name badge, but it had no name on it, so he forfeited a quarter.  He said the reason there was no name on his badge was that he is the ‘mystery person’, which is true every week! 

FELLOWSHIP, by Marilyn Bohanan announced a birthday for JIM BALLENGER on March 21st.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ORATORICAL CONTEST REPORT by Brian Hudspeth, who announced is was held this past Thursday night, march 11th.  One girl and six boys competed.  The winners were Sarah Weston and Stephan Melnick.  Brian thanked Pat, Meredith, Jake, Carol and Scot for their help.

DAY WITH WILDLIFE by Spence Turner, which will be held on Sunday April 4th. Need help so please sign up on the sheet that’s at every Monday meeting.

PEP PROJECT by Valerie Goodin, reminded us of the 13 Russian business people coming in May for 21 days of management training, and still need places to stay while they’re here.  Consider hosting a Russian guest in your home.  If interested, please see Valerie.

HICKMAN HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE COACH emailed Jake to say they needed help with their district tournament Friday, Saturday & Sunday.  They are paid positions of $35 for a full day and $17.50 for ½ day.  Please notify Jake if you are interested.

Rick McKernan, Membership Chair announced two new drawings every week.  One drawing is for the sponsors of turned in DOC applications and $$, and another drawing for a member who has a membership card in their pocket (or purse J).  The prizes are one night’s stay at the Holiday Inn for you and your guest.

PROGRAM: GEORGIA LOU SWABODA from BIG BROTHER-BIG SISTER Organization thanked the DOC for their generous contribution and presented Jake with a long sleeved T Shirt.  She also called out names from our Roster and gave away 6 other T Shirts!  They are celebrating 100 years this year, with 35 years in Columbia. They mentor children from 6 to 14 years of age.  Last year they matched 1,000 children with mentors compared to 100 just 5 years ago.  Last year, they were 13th in country out of 500 and were on the Forbes list of the top 10 Not For Profits in the country.  They are very diverse: Community based, school based, and ‘SOAR’ which is high school based.  If you interested in mentoring a child just once a week, please contact them.
